Post baby, that is This past weekend we opened a bottle from one of the wine clubs we belong to. We have a huge stockpile of wines because we received a bunch of shipments during my pregnancy. We decided to go big and open one from Goldeneye. This was a yummy Pinot noir. I was excited to indulge in a glass of wine after all the hard work of being pregnant and having a baby. It was definitely as delicious as I remember! We won’t be opening many of these expensive bottles in the near future but it is fun to splurge occasionally.
One night on Cape Cod, we decided to make lobsters! Jim was inspired by our cooking class, and lobster is extremely plentiful on the Cape, so we decided to buy some live lobsters and make a feast!
It was a little freaky having them in the back of the car, but we all survived 😉 When we got home, Jim got water from the ocean to steam them with. Then some of us posed with them. We managed to get them in the pot and closed the lid. It was definitely kind of gross, and I felt bad for them, but I guess that is the way the food chain works.
We ate outside and enjoyed the sunset and water views! Pretty much heaven! The lobster was outstanding! Making it at home was way cheaper than going out, and it was a fun experience. I can’t wait to go back next year and do it again! And enjoy some white wine with it!
Last night we finally sat down to watch the latest episode of Mad Men. I am SOO sad that this show is almost over. I love it! To celebrate Mad Men, we decided to open up a bottle of Goldeneye Pinot Noir. I am not a wine expert by any means and just started enjoying good wine in the last few years. It is fun to keep track of what we drink and what we like/dislike. Wine is fascinating to me and I hope to learn more about it in the future!
The bottle we tried last night was called Ten Degrees and it was from 2012. We became big fans of Duckhorn Winery in Napa on our honeymoon this past July. Lately, we have been getting more into Pinot Noir lately, so we switched our membership to Goldeneye (another winery in the group that focuses more on Pinots).
We visited Duckhorn on our honeymoon, and again during our trip in February. It is such a beautiful winery, and guests can enjoy sitting outside on their porch to wine taste. There are flowers everywhere! On our trip in February, it happened to be Valentine’s day, so each table had gorgeous roses.
The wine we had last night was Ten Degrees Goldeneye Pinot Noir from Alexander Valley. It was $115 for wine club members. That is a lot of money, so I was expecting this wine to be pretty good. And it was! It was amazing! There were hints of pepper and berries. I would definitely buy this wine again!
I went on a fabulous 5 day trip to California! We spent the Valentine’s/President’s Day extended weekend in Sonoma and visited Napa as well. It was in the 70s and sunny everyday, and it was quite a wonderful break to the winter! We visited our favorite wineries and ate lots of delicious food. I can’t wait to go back again!
